Goals:

The objective of this taskforce is to develop a national pandemic response template plan for commercial office landlords, primarily in the multi-tenant market.  The taskforce will develop, in cooperation with major or critical service providers and with the support of BOMA Canada, common procedures, public responses and standard communication in the event of a pandemic or similar such event.

It is not the intent of this taskforce to develop internal business continuity plans, internal staffing cross training programs or other such matters that are proprietary to each firm participating as part of the taskforce.  The taskforce will endeavour to develop a common pandemic response template that will be shared with the members of BOMA Canada.

The taskforce will focus on four primary objectives relating to pandemic planning:

  1. Monitoring / Notification Systems: good notification systems that can be monitored, verified and distributed
  2. Decision Making Process and Consistent Trigger Point: agreed upon decision making process in place for public response, process put in motion via consistent trigger i.e. third confirmed case in a particular region triggers certain agreed upon actions.
  3. Communication Protocol: for the distribution of open, truthful and consistent information.
  4. Skills/Labour  Inventory: using common terminology/categories (internal basis) to ensure continuity of services

This taskforce is a voluntary initiative by each of the participants, any of whom may withdraw at any time.  However, the information shared by the participants is intended to be used by the taskforce and may not be deemed proprietary or confidential and may therefore be utilized in the development of the industry pandemic plan.
